Ms. Laura Ross

Laura Ross was born and raised on the family farm near Yorkton and attended the University of Regina where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Sociology. For more than twenty years Laura has been a licensed realtor in Regina specializing in residential properties. Prior to her success as a realtor, she operated her own catering company and farmed with her husband Terry.
Laura was first elected as an MLA for Regina Qu’Appelle Valley Constituency in 2007. At that time Premier Wall appointed her Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Health, responsible for Retention and Recruitment of Nurses. Laura played a pivotal role in the successful recruitment of hundreds of highly skilled nurses from the Philippines. From July 2010 to May 2012 Laura served as the Minister of Government Services. She is the Vice-Chair of the Global Transportation Hub Committee, is a member of Crown Investments Corporation Board, is a member of Human Services CPC and Standing Committee and a member of the legislative committee for Public Accounts.
A tireless community volunteer, Laura served as a strong voice for seniors through many years as Chair of the Board of Directors for Regina Pioneer Village, the largest long-term care facility in the province. She is also an advocate for women’s rights, serving several terms as an executive on the Saskatchewan and Regina Councils of Women and the Canadian Federation of University Women.
Laura is a founding member in the Saskatchewan Chapter of Equal Voice and serves as a role model and mentor to young women interested in professional and political lives. Laura also was instrumental in the development of Regina’s first Habitat For Humanity Women’s Build project in 2011.
In February 2013, Laura was appointed as Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport for Creative Industries.
Laura’s community leadership is frequently called on to raise funds for charitable organizations, including Transition House, Habitat for Humanity, Mackenzie Art Gallery with Art in Bloom, Salvation Army, and Dress for Success.
Laura currently resides in Regina with her husband Terry. They have one son.
