Delbert Kirsch
Batoche
Kirsch was born and raised on the family farm near the village of Middle Lake. Delbert and his brother operate a livestock and grain farm. He and his wife Valerie also own an auction company (Kirsch Auctions), selling antiques, estates, farms and commercial property.
Mr. Kirsch has been involved in the community as a 4-H leader, and with his church in a variety of capacities. He also has been involved for many years with the Saskatchewan Hereford Association.
First elected in the 2003 provincial election and re-elected in 2007, Mr. Kirsch has enjoyed serving the people of the Batoche constituency. During his term in opposition, he served as the Saskatchewan Party critic for Forestry, deputy critic for Northern Affairs, and Industry & Commerce. He was also vice-chair of the Committee on the Economy. Mr. Kirsch has dedicated a great deal of time to researching Saskatchewan's forestry industry and has listened to the concerns and ideas of many stakeholders in the industry. Following the formation of a Saskatchewan Party government in November 2007, Premier Brad wall asked Mr. Kirsch to serve as the Chair of the Legislature's Standing Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice. Mr. Kirsch is also the Chair of the caucus' Standing Policy Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs and Justice.
Mr. Kirsch and Valerie have three children, two residing in Alberta and one in Saskatchewan.
